Getting Started

What do we need to get started?
We can work with a wide range of information as a starting point: CAD drawings, photos, RFP documents, schedules, maps, surveys, engineering reports, medical scans, or audio/video clips. These files carry acronyms like DWG, PDF, JPG, TIF, KML, SHP, CSV, DICOM, AIFF, MOV, and many others. (aren't you glad you asked?)

But what if you don't have any of that? What if you just have an idea, or a rough sketch in the margins of a meeting agenda? That's OK! Just tell us what story or information you hope to convey visually. We can handle the details of what to draw, and offer a variety of options to deliver illustrations that fit your presentation needs. (i.e. images, boards, powerpoint, hand-outs, signage)

How do we bid projects / How much will it cost?
After an initial consultation, we create a scope of work and fee proposal for each project. This is typically based on time and materials necessary to complete the job, subject to a not-to-exceed estimate. Most of our projects end up costing between $500 and $5,000 depending on factors such as:

• Extent of unique components that need to be drawn,
• Amount of detail necessary to acheive desired realism, (see example images below)
• Design required for any elements that cannot be modeled after existing conditions or plans.

When can we start?
We encourage our clients to plan for using illustration from the beginning of a project to get the maximum value from the investment. But we realize it can be difficult to know in advance when visual presentations will be needed. Give us a call. We'll discuss your situation, and come up with a plan that meets your timeline, creating finished products in a just a few days if necessary.
