Jason Nolin joined the team in 2010. A degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience in architecture and exhibit design provide a background especially well suited for the technical and visual challenges inherent in our projects.
We also collaborate with local freelance artists that bring specific animation or illustration expertise, depending on the needs of the project.

What’s the significance of the name?
The name “Fat Pencil” refers to the traditional tool an architect uses at the beginning of the design process– when it’s important to get ideas on paper quickly, without getting bogged down by too many details. These days, we do a lot of our work using Google Sketchup, a simple 3D modeling program that is widely used for conceptual design work. Used in combination with mapping software like Google Earth and Microsoft Bing Maps, we can rapidly model the context of any location.

Which project types can you help with?
We have strong project experience in many areas, including: architecture, construction, litigation, real estate, renewable energy, and sustainable design.

Why hire Fat Pencil Studio?
When you hire us, you can count on quality work, creative solutions, and outstanding service. We sweat the details so that you’ll feel great about the final results. We get mentally invested in your project to come up with ideas to meet your goals and budget. When you’ve got a question we’re available to talk, and when you’ve got a tough deadline, we’ll find a way to help you meet it.
